At the beginning of 2020, I thought it would be a great idea to write a top 10 wedding celebrations post at the end of the year. But things didn’t go according to plan because it turns out 2020 was not a great year for wedding celebrations. When the first wave of stay-at-home orders was rolled out in March, we were one month away from starting our 2020 wedding season. And as the year unfolded, the majority of our clients ended up postponing their wedding celebrations for 2021. So, unfortunately, I do not have the awesome collection of photos of 2020 wedding celebrations to share as I had planned.
But the show must go on! In hindsight, the main reason I wanted to do a top 10 wedding celebrations post for 2020 was that I didn’t get around to doing one for 2019. So now, I have the chance to show off all those wonderful 2019 weddings. As well as a couple of special ones from 2020. Over the next two posts, I’ll be sharing our Top 10 Wedding Celebrations of 2019 and 2020.
10. Sydney & Kyle’s Wedding
Sydney and Kyle’s wedding at the California Automobile Museum in Sacramento made the Top 10 Wedding Celebrations list because it was the most authentic to the couple’s quirky styles, personalities, and interests. The theme of their wedding was The Princess Bride. Kyle dressed as “Westley” in an all-black outfit including boots, gloves, a mask, and a sword. Sydney, of course, was dressed as the “Princess”. She wore a strapless ballgown and a silver princess crown which matched her bridal gown belt and necklace perfectly. Sydney’s beautiful and unique bouquet was made out of colorful paper flowers.
Since the bride and groom were in costume, they also requested their guests, family, wedding party, and vendors to come dressed in costume as well.
The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s friend, who was dressed as the Pope. It took place on the stage, which featured a backdrop resembling an old Sacramento theater building. A red classic car drove Kyle and his parents to the stage. Kyle’s parents helped him out then he proceeded up to the stage. Sydney and her parents were brought to the stage in a different red classic car. As Sydney’s parents were helping her out of the car, Kyle walked down the stairway to meet her. Once Sydney was out of the car, Kyle escorted his beautiful bride up to the stage to proceed with the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom took photos around the museum. They took pictures in front of the classic car mural. They also took photos in front of, and inside of, many classic cars.
After photos, the couple joined their guests for the reception. The reception had a fun and colorful theme. Each table had different bold-colored linens. And because they wanted their wedding celebration to be fun and family-friendly, the centerpiece for each table was a bowl of Legos with a variety of games to play. As guests entered the venue, they stopped by the escort card table, and grabbed a card with their name and table number, with a hot wheel’s car attached.
9. Anney & Sean’s Wedding
Anney and Sean’s wedding made the Top 10 Wedding Celebrations list for having the most meaningful wedding ceremony. Married in January 2019 at the elegant Tsakopoulus Library Galleria, Anney and Sean’s wedding celebration brought the new year in with a bang for us.
Anney got ready at the venue in the bridal suite with her bridesmaids and mother. The bridesmaids and the bride’s mother wore dark blue dresses. Sean got ready off-site with his groomsmen and showed up ready to get married. Sean and the groomsmen wore blue suits with dark blue ties.
Just before the ceremony, Anney and Sean did a first look photo session. Sean waited out in front of the library galleria with his back to the entrance door. Anney came out of the door and grabbed Sean’s hand from behind. Then Sean turned around and saw his beautiful bride, which brought tears to his eyes.
The ceremony was held on a stage on the east side of the elegant ballroom. Standing floral arrangements were placed at the two front corners of the stage, as well as down the aisle way. There was a small table with a navy blue linen and a strand of dainty fairy lights set up on the stage for a sand ceremony. Anney was escorted down the aisle by her father and her son, who held a stuffed penguin as he walked down the aisle. (The penguin plays an important part in the story of how Sean proposed to Anney). The couple, Anney’s son, and Sean’s daughter all took turns pouring sand into the special hourglass sand container, which solidified their bond as a new and complete family.
The reception was set on the west side of the ballroom. Tables were dressed in navy blue linens and had alternating tall and short centerpiece arrangements. The flowers in the centerpieces matched the standing floral arrangements from the ceremony. The short centerpiece containers were made of blue mercury glass, which was lit from the inside and complemented the blue up-lights placed throughout the room. The blue hues of the up-lights and short centerpieces gave the room a relaxing and calming ambiance. A custom “Best Day Ever” monogram was projected onto the wall.
8. Cheyanne and Elijah’s Wedding
Cheyanne and Elijah’s wedding made our Top 10 Wedding Celebrations list because their wedding was the last one before Covid-19 hit. In addition, it was also the first wedding of 2020 for A Daydream Wedding. Cheyanne and Elijah were married in January 2020 at the beautiful Timber Creek Ballroom in Roseville.
The day began with a special first look photo session with Cheyanne and her father. Such a touching moment to see Cheyanne wiping a tear from her father’s eyes.
After the first look photos, it was time for the wedding ceremony. The ceremony was officiated by Elijah’s father. Cheyanne was escorted down the aisle by her father. As Cheyanne and her father were walking down the aisle, Elijah seeing his beautiful bride, shed a tear of happiness. Cheyanne and Elijah exchanged custom vows during the ceremony, which ended with a beautiful first kiss as husband and wife.
The ceremony took place in the Rose Garden at Timber Creek Ballroom. The altar had a beautiful wooden arbor decorated with hanging eucalyptus and greenery. Some wine barrels were brought in to mark the ends of the aisle way, and some beautiful red and white floral arrangements were placed on top of the barrels. The welcome sign was designed and crafted by A Daydream Wedding.
The color palette for the wedding was wine red and white, with accents in a rusty brown color, which matched Cheyanne’s gorgeous hair perfectly. Cheyanne, of course, was dressed in all white and carried a bouquet of red and white flowers and greenery, which was wrapped with red, tan, and white ribbons. Elijah was dressed in red pants with a matching tie and pocket square, and he wore a white jacket. The bridesmaids wore red dresses in a variety of styles. And the groomsmen wore elegant all-black attire.
The guests moved inside the ballroom for the cocktail hour, while the bridal party took some photos. The ballroom was decorated beautifully. The guest’s tables were round tables with white linens and red napkins artfully tucked into the water goblets. The centerpieces consisted of three white candles in cylinder vases, surrounded by gorgeous eucalyptus greenery. The cake table was placed on the stage. The gorgeous cake was a white two-tier cake with red and rust-colored accents. Greenery and flowers were placed on the table surrounding the gold cake stand. On top of the cake was a personalized cake topper.
Once the cocktail hour was over, Cheyanne and Elijah were announced into the reception and everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner. After dinner, Cheyanne and Elijah cut the cake. Then they had their first dance as husband and wife together. It was a beautiful sight to see. Then, Cheyanne shared a touching dance with her father, as well as Elijah with his mother. After the special dances were over, the dance floor was opened up and everyone enjoyed some dancing.
The evening ended with a fun and exciting sparkler send-off.
7. Raycee and David’s Wedding
Raycee and David’s Chinese-themed wedding celebration made our Top 10 Wedding Celebrations list because it was a beautiful fusion of Chinese and American wedding traditions. They were married in May 2019 at a private estate in Newcastle, CA.
The day started with a traditional Chinese wedding ceremony where the bride and groom served tea to their parents. Shortly after the Chinese ceremony was an American ceremony. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father and wore a red Chinese wedding dress. The groom wore a black suit with a red Chinese-themed tie that matched the bride’s gown.
The wedding celebration took place in a tent with Chinese-themed decorations. The tent had red sashes draped across the ceiling and down the tent walls which matched the bride’s dress and groom’s tie. Also hanging from the client of the tent were elegant crystal chandeliers and a festive group of white and gold Chinese lanterns. Matching red Chinese lanterns also hung from the trees throughout the property. Tables were dressed in red linens and white napkins and had gold chivari chairs The cake complimented the theme perfectly. It was a two-tier cake frosted in white buttercream frosting and featured a branch with red Chinese cherry blossoms. Guests enjoyed a traditional Chinese cuisine plated meal, which was also perfect for the theme.
6. Laura and Jesse’s Wedding
Laura and Jesse were married in August 2019 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in downtown Sacramento. Their wedding made our Top 10 Wedding Celebrations list for having the most beautiful wedding ceremony venue.
Laura and Jesse’s day started at the Citizen Hotel, where they both got ready in separate rooms. The bridesmaids wore floral silk robes while getting ready, while Laura wore a solid white silk robe. The bridesmaids got dressed in shimmering burgundy dresses. The bride got dressed in a strapless ball gown, cathedral veil, and brown heels. The groom and groomsmen got dressed in blue suits and brown shoes. Once everyone was ready, they headed over to the cathedral for the ceremony.
It was a beautiful, religious ceremony. The music for the ceremony was played by a string quartet. The groom was escorted down the aisle by his parents. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. After the ceremony, the couple took photos with their family and bridal party in the cathedral. They also took some photos alone inside several areas of the cathedral and building.
Then the couple and the wedding party headed over to the nearby State Capital Rose Garden and took some more photos. The photos beautifully captured the bridesmaids’ hoop bouquets and the bride’s traditional handheld bouquet.
After the ceremony, everyone headed over to the Old Sugar Mill, a winery in Clarksburg, CA for the reception. The bride and groom took some photos around the venue and vineyard, while the guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and classy music.
The reception was held inside the gallery. Tables were dressed in white linens, gold chargers, white china, and navy-blue napkins. The centerpieces consisted of eucalyptus greenery, lanterns, and acrylic table numbers. But instead of using traditional numbers, the couple used Greek letters. The guest book table consisted of 2 wine barrels with a wooden plank and continued the decor theme with more eucalyptus greenery and lanterns. A three-tier cake featuring colors of navy blue, gold, and white was placed on a wine barrel. The cake stand was a ring stand, which matched the bridesmaids’ hoop bouquets, and was decorated with a small garland of greenery.
After dinner, it was time for some fun. The bride and groom participated in a Money Dance, which their family and friends thoroughly enjoyed. Everybody wanted to dance with the bride and groom. The groom’s parents gave the couple garlands to wear made of dollar bills.
